Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 June 2025
This Privacy Policy explains how HubIQ Pty Ltd ("Pick A Deal", "we", "us" or "our") collects, holds, uses and discloses your personal information. We are committed to managing personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
1. Our commitment to privacy
Pick A Deal respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy applies to all personal information collected by us through our website at pickaadeal.com.au (the Website), by telephone, by email, and through any other channels through which we interact with you.
By using our Website or services, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
2. About Pick A Deal
Pick A Deal is a free home connection comparison and coordination service. We help consumers compare broadband, electricity, gas and mobile plans from participating providers, and coordinate connections when they move home.
Our Website is free to use. We may receive a referral fee or commission from a participating provider if:
- you choose a plan and sign up through us;
- you call a participating provider using a number listed on our Website;
- you submit your contact details in an enquiry form and a provider contacts you; or
- we have an advertising or commercial relationship with the provider.
This referral fee is paid by the provider, not by you. You never pay more than going direct.
3. What personal information we collect
The personal information we collect will vary depending on how you interact with us. It typically includes:
- your name, email address, phone number and postal address;
- information about your current services, usage patterns and household needs;
- your property address and connection details;
- communications between you and us (including recorded telephone calls);
- device and usage information collected via cookies and analytics tools (see section 5); and
- any other information you choose to provide when using our services.
We generally do not collect sensitive information (such as health, financial account or government identifier information) unless you choose to provide it and it is necessary to deliver a specific service.
What if you don't provide your information?
You may decline to provide personal information, but this may limit our ability to compare plans, arrange connections or respond to your enquiries. You can browse our Website without identifying yourself.
4. How and why we collect your personal information
We collect personal information to provide our comparison and connection services. Specific purposes include:
- comparing broadband, energy and mobile plans available at your address;
- connecting you with participating providers;
- coordinating home service connections when you move;
- responding to your enquiries and providing customer support;
- sending you information about plans, offers and promotions (with your consent);
- improving our Website and services;
- complying with our legal and regulatory obligations; and
- internal administration, quality control and training.
We collect personal information directly from you where practicable. We may also receive information from third parties such as marketing partners, data providers or participating providers where you have authorised this.
5. Cookies and online tracking
When you visit our Website, we may use cookies, web beacons and similar technologies to collect information about your device, browsing behaviour and how you interact with our pages. This helps us:
- personalise your experience and remember your preferences;
- understand how our Website is used and improve its functionality;
- serve relevant advertising on our Website and third-party platforms; and

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may limit the functionality of our Website. For more information on managing cookies, visit www.aboutcookies.org.
We may also work with third-party advertising and analytics providers (including Google) who may set their own cookies and collect data in accordance with their own privacy policies.
6. How we use and disclose your personal information
We may disclose your personal information to:
- Participating providers — where you have requested a comparison or connection, we share your details with relevant providers so they can contact you about their plans and services.
- Service providers and contractors — including IT, data processing, marketing, customer service and analytics providers who assist us to operate our business.

- Regulators and government agencies — where required by law or to assist with investigations.
- Successors — in the event of a business sale, merger or restructure, personal information may be transferred to the acquiring entity.
We will not sell your personal information to third parties for their independent use.
7. Direct marketing
We may use your personal information to send you information about plans, products, services and promotions that may be of interest to you. Marketing communications may be sent by email, SMS, telephone or targeted digital advertising.
You can opt out of marketing communications at any time by:
- clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any email we send;
- replying STOP to any SMS; or
- contacting us using the details in section 14.
Even if you opt out of marketing, we may still contact you about services you have specifically requested or enquiries you have made.
If your telephone number is listed on the Do Not Call Register, by submitting it to us you consent to being contacted by us or our participating providers in relation to your specific enquiry.
8. Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers and technology partners may be based outside Australia. We may disclose your personal information to overseas recipients where necessary to provide our services (for example, cloud hosting providers). We take reasonable steps to ensure that overseas recipients handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
By using our services, you acknowledge that your personal information may be stored or processed outside Australia.
9. How we store your information
We store personal information in secure electronic systems, including cloud-based infrastructure. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These measures include encryption, access controls, firewalls and regular security assessments.
Despite these measures, no internet transmission is completely secure. We encourage you to exercise care when transmitting personal information online.
10. How long we keep your information
We retain personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, or as required by law. When personal information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it securely.
Retention periods are determined by factors including applicable legal and regulatory requirements, limitation periods for potential claims, and operational business needs.
11. Accessing and correcting your personal information
You have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to request corrections if it is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. To make a request, contact us using the details in section 14. We will respond within a reasonable time and may ask you to verify your identity.
There is no charge for making an access or correction request. We may decline access in limited circumstances where permitted under the Privacy Act, and will provide written reasons if this occurs.
