Disclosures
Last updated: 1 June 2025
Pick A Deal is committed to operating transparently. This Disclosures page explains how our comparison service works, how we are remunerated, the limitations of our service, and other important information you should know before using our Website.
1. How our service works
Pick A Deal operates a free online platform that allows consumers to compare home service plans — including NBN broadband, electricity, gas and mobile — from a range of participating providers. We also offer a moving home coordination service that helps consumers arrange connections at a new address.
When you use our Website or speak with our team, we:
- display plan information sourced from our participating providers;
- allow you to compare plans based on factors including price, speed, data and contract terms;
- may contact you by phone to assist with plan selection and connection; and
- facilitate the signup or transfer process with your chosen provider on your behalf.
Our service is provided to consumers at no charge. You will never pay more for a plan by signing up through Pick A Deal than by going directly to a provider.
2. How we are paid
Pick A Deal is a commercial comparison and referral service. We earn revenue through referral fees and commissions paid by participating providers when:
- a consumer signs up to a plan or service through our Website;
- a consumer calls a provider using a telephone number displayed on our Website;
- a consumer submits an enquiry form and a provider subsequently contacts them; or
- we have an advertising, sponsorship or other commercial arrangement with a provider.
The referral fees we receive do not affect the price you pay. Providers set their own retail pricing and Pick A Deal has no ability to charge consumers a premium for access to plans.
We apply a consistent commercial approach across our provider panel and endeavour to avoid our remuneration arrangements influencing the objectivity of our comparisons. However, you should be aware that our panel is limited to participating providers who have entered into commercial agreements with us, and we may not display all plans available in the market.
3. Our panel of providers
Pick A Deal displays plans from providers who have agreed to participate on our platform ("Participating Providers"). Our current panel includes providers across broadband, energy and mobile categories, including major retailers and selected smaller providers.
Our panel does not include every provider in the market. Some providers choose not to participate in comparison services, or may not meet our quality standards for inclusion. We encourage you to conduct your own research and consider providers not listed on our Website if you wish to ensure a comprehensive comparison.
We review and update our provider panel regularly. The presence of a provider on our panel does not constitute an endorsement of that provider or its products.
Sponsored and featured placements
Some providers may pay additional fees for featured, sponsored or prominent placement within our comparison results. Where this is the case, we will clearly label such placements as "Sponsored" or "Featured". Non-sponsored results are ordered based on relevance, price or other comparison criteria disclosed at the point of comparison.
4. Plan information accuracy
We take reasonable steps to ensure that plan information, pricing and availability displayed on our Website is accurate and current. Plan information is sourced directly from providers or from publicly available data and is updated regularly.
However, plan details change frequently. Pricing may vary based on promotional periods, contract length, address-specific availability and other factors. We do not guarantee that all information on our Website is complete, accurate or up to date at all times.
Before signing up to any plan, you should confirm the current pricing, terms and availability directly with the provider.
Estimated savings or cost comparisons displayed on our Website are indicative only. Actual savings will depend on your individual usage, current plan, applicable discounts and other factors.
Response time commitments: Any reference on our Website or in correspondence to response times (such as "within 1 business day") reflects our operational target, not a legally binding service level agreement. Actual response times may vary.
5. Guide content
The guides and articles published on our Website (the "Guides") are provided for general informational purposes only. They are written to help consumers understand home service products and the Australian market, but they do not constitute financial, legal, or professional advice.
Information in our Guides reflects general market conditions at the time of writing. Pricing, regulatory settings, provider availability, and other details referenced in our Guides may have changed since publication. Pick A Deal does not warrant the completeness or continuing accuracy of Guide content. Always verify current information directly with the relevant provider or regulatory body before acting.
6. Not financial or legal advice
The information provided on our Website and by our team is for general comparison and informational purposes only. It does not constitute financial, legal, tax or professional advice.
Pick A Deal is not a licensed financial adviser, energy adviser, telecommunications adviser or any other type of licensed adviser. Before making any decision about a home service plan, you should consider your own circumstances and, if appropriate, seek independent professional advice.
7. Energy comparator code of conduct
Pick A Deal supports the principles of transparency and consumer protection in the energy sector. When comparing energy plans, please be aware that:
- electricity and gas plans vary by state and distribution network area;
- plans are compared against government-set benchmarks (reference prices in NSW, QLD and SA; Victorian Default Offer in VIC) where applicable;
- usage charges, daily supply charges, discounts and solar feed-in tariff rates all affect the total cost of a plan;
- discounts (e.g. pay-on-time discounts) are conditional and may not apply if payment conditions are not met; and
- switching energy retailers involves no interruption to your supply.
For independent information about energy retailers and your rights as an energy consumer, visit the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) at www.aer.gov.au or your state energy ombudsman.
8. Telecommunications disclosures
When comparing broadband and mobile plans, please be aware that:
- nbn plans are subject to nbn co's wholesale pricing and technology availability at your address;
- advertised speeds (e.g. NBN 50, NBN 100) represent maximum possible speeds and are not guaranteed — actual speeds depend on your nbn technology type, modem, in-home wiring and network traffic;
- mobile coverage varies by network and location — we encourage you to check coverage maps before switching;
- contract terms, exit fees and included inclusions vary by plan; and
- number portability (transferring your existing number to a new provider) is a legal right under Australian telecommunications law.
For independent telecommunications information and dispute resolution, contact the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) at www.tio.com.au or call 1800 062 058.
9. Advertising and sponsored content
Our Website may display advertising from third parties, including banner advertisements, sponsored content and remarketing ads. Advertising revenue helps fund our free comparison service. The appearance of advertising on our Website does not constitute an endorsement of the advertised product or service.
We use cookies and third-party advertising networks to serve relevant ads. For information on how we use cookies, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
10. Conflicts of interest
Pick A Deal is an independently owned comparison service. We are not owned by, affiliated with, or operated by any telco, energy retailer, network operator or financial institution.
Our commercial arrangements with participating providers (described in section 2) create a potential conflict of interest, in that we have a financial incentive to connect consumers with providers on our panel rather than directing consumers to providers outside our panel.
We manage this conflict by:
- applying consistent commission rates across all participating providers, so we do not earn more by recommending one provider over another;
- clearly labelling any sponsored or featured placements;
- disclosing our commercial model on this page and in our Terms of Use; and
- encouraging consumers to review our panel coverage and consider the full market independently.
